Jesus was a Carpenter

 Craft Project

You will need:

  • Six 12" rulers
  • One 1X4 12" long
  • Two 1X4 6" long
  • 1 sheet of cardstock (any light color)
  • Pattern

                   plus

  • nails
  • wood glue
  • hammer
  • scissors
  • craft glue

Instructions

1.Lay the 12" piece of wood flat on your worktable.
2.Spread glue along one of the short edges of the 6" piece of wood.
3.Glue the short piece to the long piece as shown in the picture and let it dry.
4.Hammer a nail on each end of the glue strip to hold it in place.
5.Repeat on the other end of the long piece of wood.
6Using one nail on each end, hammer one ruler at the top, one on the bottom, and one in the middle as shown in the picture at the top of this page.
7.Do the same on the other side.
8Print the pattern on any color light card stock. Cut out two and use craft glue to attach one to the outside of both sides of your project.
Teachers may want to drill small holes in the wood where the nails should go to make it easier for younger students to assemble.
As an option, the holder can be painted or stained
before putting the pieces together.
