Mary and Joseph Flee to Egypt with Jesus

| Wise Men came looking for "the king of the Jews," They stopped in Jerusalem asked King Herod. Their question made him very nervous! Herod told them to let him know who the 'king' was and where to find him so that Herod could go and see him, but the kings were warned in a dream not to do that. After they visited Jesus in Bethlehem, the kings went home. When King Herod realized the wise men were not coming back to tell him where Jesus was, he ordered his soldiers to kill all the babies in that area so he could be sure that this so-called king wouldn't steal his kingdom from him. An angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him to take Mary and Jesus and leave immediately for Egypt. He did exactly what the angel told him to do, so the family was gone when the soldiers showed up to carry out Herod's orders. Only after Herod died did Joseph bring his family out of Egypt and settled in Nazareth in Galilee. |
