Lost Sheep Craft Project

You will need:

  • large raw egg
  • small piece of black felt or black paper
  • 2 medium googly eyes
  • cotton balls
  • brown or black chenille pipe cleaner
  • Strip of ribbon

                   plus

  • large needle or thin nail
  • drinking straw and toothpick
  • small bowl
  • black felt-tip pen
  • glue
  • scissors

Instructions
1.Carefully make a hole on the small end of an egg.  Make a hole at the large end of the egg and carefully enlarge it with a toothpick. Use the toothpick to pop the egg yolk inside the shell so it will come out easily.
2.Place a straw over the hole in the small end of the egg and blow, usin a small bowl to catch the insides. Run warm water over and into the egg to clean it.
3.Put the egg, large hole down, back in an egg carton overnight so that it can completely drain and dry, or place the egg in the microwave for 15-20 seconds.
4.Cut ears (small rectangular boxes) and nose (small circle) from felt.
5.Glue the nose over the hole at the small end of the egg, then glue googly eyes into place. Draw mouth.
6Fold ears and crease.  Place a drop of glue on each ear and glue to egg.
7. Glue the first cotton ball over the hole on the large end of the egg.  Continue gluing cotton balls onto the egg, cover the ear strip glued to the egg.  Glue balls evenly around the face.
8.Cut four 1" lengths from the pipe cleaner.  Glue into place for legs and let dry.  Carefully bend the legs to make the sheep stand.
9.Tie ribbon in a bow and glue to bottom of face.
Plastic eggs can be used in place of real eggs.
Watch a video to learn how to blow the egg from the shell.
