Lavender Sachets Craft Project

Kate Luther started a hospital and worked with the sick.

In the Middle Ages, lavender was valued for its medicinal qualities.

It was used to clean cuts and scrapes, and sooth skin irritations. The word lavender comes from a Latin word, lavare, which means "to wash."

The scent of lavender helped to calm patients who were in pain or frightened and upset.

Tutorial: 5 Minute, No-Sew Lace Lavender Sachets

You will need:

  • 24" lengths of lace trim, at least 2 inches wide.
  • dried lavender
  • Small rubber  bands
  • 16" lengths of 1/2" ribbon

                   plus

  • Glue gun/glue sticks
  • Spoon
  • Scissors

Instructions

1.Lay the lace trim flat.  Use the glue gun to put a thin line of glue on each of the long edges.
2.Fold the lace trim exactly in half and press down firmly.
3.Once the glue is dry, check to make sure that the two seams are glued together all along the edges. Seal any gaps with a small amount of glue inserted between the layers of lace.
4.Make sure the glue is thoroughly dry and seams are complete before continuing.
5.Use a spoon to fill the little sack about 2/3 full of dried lavender.
6.Secure the top with a small rubber band.
7.Tie a ribbon tightly around the rubber band and finish it off with a bow!
