Joseph's Bags of Grain Craft Project

You will need:

  • 8 1/2" by 11" cardstock (any color)
  • bag labels
  • 9" X 9" felt, burlap, or cloth
  • 'grain' (granola, cereal, bird seed mix, corn, wheat, popcorn kernels, etc)
  • 7" length of string, leather, or thin ribbon
                   plus

  • scissors
  • compass/pencil or marker
  • 1/4 cup measure
  • hole punch

Instructions
1.Print the bag labels on cardstock.  There are 7 labels on a page.  Older children may want to select their own verse and create their own bag labels.
2.Punch a hole on the left side of each bag label.
3.Use a compass set to 4" to draw a circle on the felt or fabric.  Cut out the circle.
4.Punch evenly spaced holes around the outside edge of the circle, about 1" apart and 1/2" from the edge.
 5.Thread string through holes.
6.Thread label onto string on bottom side of the circle.
7.Measure 1/4 cup 'grain' and place it in the center of the circle.
8.Pull on each end of the string to draw the bag together.
 9. Tie your bag closed.
Variation: Make a bag for each of Joseph's 11 brothers and his father. Put a name on each bag.
