'Do Not Steal' Poster Craft

Do Not Steal

Stealing is taking something that does not belong to you without asking. It is not borrowing, or finding something, or owning something, or having something with permission. It is taking something from someone else. Besides stealing, the seventh commandment forbids cheating or borrowing something and not giving it back. This month's craft is making a poster to help people know what things are stealing.

WHAT YOU NEED

                                            plus

  • markers or crayons
  • scissor
  • ruler

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1.Talk about different ways that people can steal - like cheating on a test, wasting someone's time, taking a friend's toy, sneaking a cookie, etc.

Make a list of the things people can steal and how they can steal them.

 2. Cut out three strickers.  In the white space on two of them, write "What"  and "How."

 3. Use a ruler to draw a straight line down the middle of the posterboard.

 4. Put the "what" sticker at the top of one column and the "How" sticker at the top of the other column.

 5. Write the list of things people can steal (time, toys, food, etc.) under the "What" sticker.

 6.  Write the list of the ways people can steal (waste time, cheat on a test, shoplift, etc.) under the "How" sticker.

 7. Put the third "do not steal" sticker at the bottom center of the posterboard.

Variations:  Print pattern on regular paper, cut out and paste onto posterboard

Younger children can place one sticker at the top of the posterboard and draw a picture of how someone might steal something.
