Crowns for the King and Queen Craft

Crowns for Queen Esther and her King

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Gold/yellow posterboard

  • 8 1/2" by 14" printer paper

  • Crown pattern (one king, one queen per sheet)   Thanks to Carolyn at Danielle's place for this pattern

  • Glitter, sequins, etc. to decorate crowns

                                            plus

  • tape measure
  • scissor
  • glue stick
  • stapler
  • marker or crayons

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

1. Print out pattern on legal-size paper and cut out the pattern for the king and queen.

2. Use tape measure to measure circumference of student's head.  Add 2 inches. This is the length of crown needed.

2. Full king's crown pattern is 25" long.  Full queen's crown pattern is 23" long.  If head is larger, extend the pattern by an equal amount on each end to get correct length.

3. Trace the pattern onto the back of the posterboard.  The pattern is for half of the crown, so carefully flip the pattern over and trace the other half of the crown.

4. Cut out the crown.

5. Add glitter, sequins, jewels, etc. to decorate the crown.

6. Wrap the crown around the student's head and mark where it comes together.  Crown should overlap about 1". If too long, carefully cut an equal amount from each side.

7. Staple at back.
