The Lord's Prayer

One of the most important of Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount was how to pray.  The words He gave us are said by all Christians in the Lord's Prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom
And the Power
And the Glory forever and ever.
Amen

When we pray this prayer, alone or in a group, we are connecting ourselves with all of the Christians who for thousands of years have approached God in the very same way.  The Lord's Prayer is one way that we announce ourselves to be part of the body of Christ and the royal priesthood of believers.
