The Prophets Foretell the Coming Messiah
| | Isaiah wrote about salvation. He made prophecies about the future of the people of Israel, and most important to Christians, he gave many clues to who the Messiah would be and why he would come to earth. Jesus fulfilled Isaiah's prophecies about the Messiah. When he was born, he was the son of a virgin and a descendant of King David, One by one, as he grew older Jesus fulfilled all of Isaiah's promises. Jesus also fulfilled the prophecies of other Old Testament predictions. In Genesis, we learn that the Messiah will be born of a woman, and he would be a descendant of Abraham and Isaac from the tribe of Judah. Micah said that He would be born in Bethlehem. In both the Psalms and Daniel we learn that the Messiah's throne will be anointed and eternal. The Jews waited a long time for a Messiah, but most of them did not realize that Jesus of Nazareth was the Christ. | | | |
