Wall of Faith Craft Project

Wall of Faith

Nehemiah depended upon his faith to find the strength to take on the big job of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.  In our daily lives, we, too, need to trust God to help us live the right way.  In this project, we build a wall of faith to remind us of how God helped Nehemiah rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.  Add pictures and words to the bricks that will help you make good choices and give you strength in sad times.

A SPECIAL SNACK - S'Mores WALL!

Here's a snack you can make and eat while you work on your Wall of Faith:

You'll need graham crackers, marshmallow creme, and a Hershey's chocolate bar

1. Spread marshmallow creme on a graham cracker.  Place squares of the Hershey's bar on the graham cracker like bricks, spacing them so the marshmallow creme looks like mortar.

2. They taste great with a glass of milk!

How to make brick mortar:

  2 1/2 cups flour

  1 cup salt

  1 cup water

  Food coloring (optional)

For even coloring, mix food coloring into water (optional).

      Knead ingredients together.

Place in an airtight plastic bag in the refrigerator overnight.

Arrange pictures1.  Print the brick pattern on white card stock and cut out the (twelve) individual bricks.

2.  Print out the "words" sheet.

3. Print the name plaque.  Add your name, cut it out and glue it in place on one of the bricks.

4.  Use pictures, words, cut-outs from magazines, or draw pictures to decorate each of the twelve bricks with things that will make you smile and will help keep you strong in sad or hard times.  Decide how you want to Spread mortararrange the bricks on your wall of faith.

5.  Spread mortar on the corrugated cardboard. Use a rolling pin to smooth and even out the mortar.

6.  Put each brick into place.

7.  Let your wall of faith dry overnight.

You can remove the glass from a document frame and use the frame to display your wall of faith, or punch a hole in the top corners of the wall before step 5. Once you've finished spreading the mortar, make sure the two holes are free of mortar. After drying, string twine or braided yarn through the holes to create a hangar.
