"Let the Children Come to Me"
Click the photo for a larger image in a new window | Jesus and his disciples were in Judea. Crowds gathered, and Jesus began to teach them. People wanted Jesus to touch their children so that they would be blessed. Jesus' disciples tried to chase them away, thinking that the children were interrupting Jesus and his important work teaching the grown-ups about God. Jesus told the disciples that they shouldn't keep the children away from Him. In fact, Jesus said that the grown-ups should trust and have faith in God in the same unconditional way that children do!
Unlike English, there are many words for love in the Greek language. Eros is love between a man and a woman, Philia means love between friends. Agape is sacrificial, divine love. It is the kind of love that God and Jesus have for humankind. It is the kind of love that Christians should share with those around them, especially children. |
