Reformation Craft Project
Create a collage that tells the story of Martin Luther and the 95 Theses that launched the Reformation.
The collage can also be made using corrugated cardboard as the base. The cardboard collage should be laminated.
WHAT YOU NEED
- 8" X 10" piece of wood or plywood for the base
- Pictures and phrases to use in the collage. Here are some to get started.
- Miscellaneous craft materials to help decorate your collage (cloth, beads, ribbon, etc.)
- Spray-on varnish
- Picture hanging hardware
plus
- Sandpaper
- Wood filler
- Scissors
- Glue
- Small damp rag
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
1. Use wood filler to fill in any rough spots on your wood base. Sand the base smooth. 2. Attach hanger hardware to the back. 3. Collect the pieces of your collage. These can include pictures and printed phrases from magazines and other sources, original writings and drawings, pieces of ribbon, beads, etc. Cut out each paper element carefully. Arrange them on your base. Elements can overlap. 4. Once you have all of the elements arranged, carefully glue each element into place. Wipe away any excess glue with a damp rag. Let dry. 5. Outside or in a well-ventilated space, spray one or more coats of varnish on the collage. Make sure each coat is dry before adding the next.
